The Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) is a mandatory pre-export conformity assessment for regulated product categories imported into Nigeria. Products require a Product Certificate (PC) and a SONCAP Certificate (SC) before they can clear Nigerian customs. Categories requiring SONCAP include electronics, electrical equipment, toys, chemicals, construction materials and many consumer goods.

We manage SONCAP certification entirely in China — liaising with SON-approved Product Conformity Assessment Bodies (PCABs), arranging lab testing and obtaining the required certificates before shipment. This means your goods arrive with compliant documentation and clear customs without hold-ups.

Standard required documents include: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, SONCAP certificate (for regulated products), Form M (obtained from your Nigerian bank) and Combined Certificate of Value and Origin (CCVO). We prepare the China-side documents and advise on Nigerian banking requirements.

A typical timeline is 8-12 weeks from order to delivery: 1-2 weeks supplier sourcing and SONCAP initiation, 3-5 weeks production, 1 week pre-shipment inspection and documentation, 25-35 days sea transit, 1-2 weeks customs clearance at Nigerian port.

Form M is a mandatory import document issued by a Nigerian commercial bank, required for goods valued above $500 entering Nigeria. It must be obtained before goods are shipped. We advise our Nigerian clients on Form M requirements and time our shipment documentation accordingly.
